Use Of Song Permission
This is a print screen of the email that was sent to Dim Mak Sudios, which is Steve Aoki's record label that he set up himself. Out of respect for our chosen artist and his record label it is important to send a email/letter to him or the record company asking for permission to use the song intended. we have chosen to use the song 'Beat Down' for our music video so if we had not sent a email/letter asking for permission then we and/or our school could get sued for copyright infringement.

What Is A Music Video?
For our A2 Media course we have chosen to create a music video. A music video is a short film incorporated in with a song and imagery, which is produced for marketing purposes for artists to promote the sale of music records.
A typical music video includes images of the artist performing the song and shots interpreting the lyrics. They are seen by the public mainly on the television (MTV) or on the Internet (YouTube). This makes the music video more memorable as the public are being given something visual to look at.
As a group; we have chosen to create a music video instead of a short film as we think it is more of a challenge to make a music video; for example getting the lip syncing in time with the lyrics. Also, we think making a short film is too similar to the thriller production we made in Year 12; therefore making a music video we will help broaden our filming and editing skills and demonstrate new techniques.

Word Cloud
Genre:
When
thinking about filming a music video it is important to pick a suitable genre.
It has to be a genre which you could think of a variety of creative ideas for
shots/mise en scene and something that you would be able to lip-sync well to.
Make-up:
We
used the work make-up in our presentation numerous times because it is
important to get the make-up correct so it fits in with the mise en scene, in a
music video and short film, as it makes the video more believable and suits the
character profiles. For example, dirty mud on a hillbilly.
Angle:
When shooting your short film or music video it is important to use a variety of angles. Then, when filming, this enables you to have extra shots, in case some aren't what you expected them to be. By using a variety of angles it keeps the audience interested whilst making the video more visually pleasing and creative.
Lyrics:
When planning your music video you have to analyse the lyrics of the song to get an idea of what the song is about. It can then help you when filming if you are following the story line of the song; if not, you would be able to pick certain lyrics of the song to relate the imagery.
